Monster Energy has released some footage of Nyjah Huston skating Carlsbad Skate Park. Nyjah is decked out in Nike SB gear following the recent announcement of his mega deal with the Swoosh brand’s skateboarding wing. You can clearly here someone drive by all fanning out on Nyjah during the opening moments of the video.
If you haven’t heard Nyjah was recently dealt a blow in an Orange County courthouse. The young skateboarding maestro was sentenced to 3 years probation and 200 hours of community service for repeatedly having the Orange County Sheriffs Department called out to his South Orange County home for excessive parting. I’m guessing this may have something to do with his home being on the market now.
According to TMZ, Nyjah appeared in court to face a mountain of charges, including disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, public nuisance, and trespassing. Nyjah was charged with the latter last May, when he allegedly rode a motorcycle on private property. Police have also responded to more than 20 calls from neighbors complaining about parties at his Orange County, Calif., home since 2013.
Nyjah struck a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to plead no contest to two charges—public nuisance and resisting a peace officer—and have the rest dropped. He was given three years probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.
As part of his probation, Nyjah can’t throw parties at his house between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Violating that order could cause his probation to be revoked and land him in jail.
Still Nyjah Huston has plenty time and money to find a new party house away from South Orange County. Hopefully he won’t do anything to rob us of his once in a generation talent just as he is coming into his prime. With plenty of X Games gold medals and Street League Championships under his belt, and yet no Thrasher SOTY awards? But at just 21 years of age, Nyjah has a ton of shredding left in his future and I’m sure plenty of SOTY awards. When all is said and done, we could be talking about the best ever.
